Who is executive coaching for?

Executive coaches are increasingly being used by a wide range of individuals and organisations.

And given the proven benefits, from enhanced goal attainment through to increased resilience, it’s no wonder executive coaches are quickly becoming the go-to specialists to help improve individual and team performance.

But exactly who is executive coaching for, and how do they work with individuals and teams?

Executive coaching isn’t for everyone

Before outlining who should consider engaging an executive coach, we need to flip the question and explain who ISN’T suited to executive coaching?

That’s important because the truth is, executive coaching won’t work for everyone.

At Candour Coaching, we only work with people who are truly invested in the process.

When you commence one of our executive coaching programs, it’s done so on the fundamental beliefs of trust and unity. That means trust with each other, trust in our methods, and a unified belief in your purpose.

If you’re not devoted, and conversely if we don’t believe in your purpose, the partnership is only setting itself up for failure.

So if you can’t commit to the process, we recommend you seek another solution.

Individual coaching: What type of people should engage an executive coach?

Executive coaches work with individuals to help them live happier, healthier and more fulfilled lives.

If you want to better your life in any aspect, then you should consider engaging an executive coach.

We work with a range of people such as high-functioning professionals, busy executives, and leaders and future leaders, among others.

This can include c-suite executives, entrepreneurs, lawyers, accountants and financial services executives as well as client-facing professionals such as salespeople and account managers.

When we work with individuals, we use methodical planning and evidence-based techniques to help them feel more energetic and less lost; be clearer about the next stages of their life and career; and help them structure their days and weeks to be more efficient and achieve more meaningful results.

Is executive coaching only meant to help me at work?

A common misconception is that executive coaches only work with individuals to help them perform better at work.

While this might be the case for some executive coaches, at Candour Coaching we take a holistic approach and work with clients to help them achieve their goals both professionally and personally.

Both are inextricably linked, so it’s only natural to incorporate both.

Each of our clients is different and has their own goals. Some don’t even know what their goals are but only know they feel lost or unfulfilled and want something more in life.

For some, that may be increasing their performance at work with the goal of climbing the corporate ladder. For others, it may be how to maintain performance at work while focusing more on their family and friends. And in other circumstances, clients just want a greater sense of fulfilment. Many people also incorporate other types of goals be it financial, health, education and personal development etc.

Our Performance Partners program, which is designed for individuals, is an executive coaching membership for powerful, energetic and thoughtful leaders and future leaders who are looking to up-level their skill, performance and impact. Find out more information about the program.

How do executive coaches help with team performance?

When it comes to improving team performance in the workplace, this has been traditionally tasked to managers and team leaders, who have little-to-no training in the area. This is no fault of their own as they’re specialists in their own particular field - not as executive coaches.

Even people and culture specialists may not be well versed with improving team performance given the broad remit these departments now take on - whether they’re adequately resourced to help teams in this space is also another question.

Given these challenges, more and more organisations are now turning to executive coaches to help them improve team performance.

At Candour Coaching, we’ve worked with the likes of Google, William Buck, Finnair and Electrolux, to name a few, to help them create higher performing teams.

Our Purpose Driven Workforce program is designed for teams and helps them become more connected with their purpose, more connected with each other and dramatically improve their output.

We do this through a series of workshops that explore both theoretical and practical elements of performance including:

  • Helping teams uncover their individual core values, and how to align these with their organisations to give them a greater sense of purpose.

  • Creating Goal Theory and how to implement habits and routines into their daily lives to achieve these.

  • The application of motivation, performance foundations and optimal state of performance, and how to utilise these.

  • How to identify potential areas of failure and how to combat these.

In addition to being specialists in team performance, executive coaches bring a raft of other benefits, such as the ability to provide objective feedback, better accountability, and evidence-based techniques.

Taking the next step to greater performance

Our specialist coaches use researched, evidenced-based techniques to help improve performance in a healthy and holistic approach.

Whether for yourself or your team, we can help improve performance for happier, healthier and more fulfilled lives.
